(I can do it. I can do it. I can do it.)
So, after finding a link on Pinterest, I was sent to a blog about someone attempting "40 bags in 40 days". They had seen it on Pinterest, too, so apparently it's popular.
I need to de-clutter. In a minute, I'll show you why and embarass myself for the sake of motivating you. The object of "40 bags" is to tackle one area each day and collect one bag of trash and/or goodwill items and get them out of the house! I am not a fan of collecting items for a garage sale. This great production was tried a few months ago in my front yard with a few friends, and was a complete failure. After looking at my junk for a few days, I came up with reasons why I needed to keep it.. and also some of my friends' junk. Grrrreat.
So, I've decided that one area of my house.. once a day.. isn't so bad. In fact, I'm looking at it as a game. :) Does anyone want to join me??
Here's my list. It's posted on my kitchen cabinets. Yes, you have to go in order. No jumping to the easy stuff, now.
...and here is why I have to start. Below, you can see one of my many candy dishes as well as one of my many junk drawers. This is my favorite junk drawer in the kitchen.
Motivated yet? Come on, let's get 'er done! :)

what a great idea! It's amazing how much stuff we can accumulate that we don't need. We were amazed that after combining two storage closets into one to get ready for baby, we actually had more space than before. I also love the idea of taking it one day at a time, with small goals. Good luck on this!
ReplyDeleteLOVE this idea! Now I just need to motivate! ;)

ReplyDeleteThanks for the printable! I'm going to tape it inside my computer cabinet to motivate me. I think breaking it down into 40 days is a great idea!
ReplyDeleteLove this idea! So easy and I'm in. Hate saving for garage sales because it's so crazy. We have lots and lots of shop-lifters besides it keeps me from being upset, and we still have to gather to donate and rebag trash. You're a genius!
ReplyDeleteSuch a cool idea. I'm always finding stuff to get rid of. Thanks so much for sharing. Stopping by from http://datssocute.blogspot.com I'm now following so I don't miss out on any of your goodies! ♥ BJ
