Pirate Birthday Party

One of my faaaaavorite things about designing and having an etsy shop is meeting new people. I love the conversations we have and making their designs custom for them!
I have recently been working with sweet Andi who has been a delight to work with and not only put on an amazing pirate birthday party for her son but put on a "Love Boat" party the week after that for her friends!
(can't wait to see pics of that. wink, wink)

Some of the pirate food labels read:
Peg Legs - Pretzel rods
Gold Pops - Red velvet cupcake pops dipped in sprinkles
X Marks the Spot - Reese's Peanut Butter Cups with a fondant x on them
Treasure Box Sweets - Various Treats

I love how she turned the cupcake toppers into favor tags to put on little treasure boxes.
Everything she did is just amazing, Down to the table cloth with ric rac on the bottom! Love it.
Pirate party kit can be found here and the invite here!

JoJo's Circus Party!

My sweet, sweet baby turned one just a few months ago.

Now, you should know that I'm a big theme person.. for parties.

Rooms? Not so much.

The little faces to the right are pictures of her face that I printed out on cardstock and hot glued to bamboo skewers. I then stuck those into a vase filled with bubble gum. Aaaand, since neither of my children can chew gum, I have been chomping for weeks. :)
Below, Jojo and I (and her little circus headband that she refused to keep on).
This was her cake topper. The poles are bamboo skewers painted red, and I drew out the pictures on cardstock and hung the trapeze artist from a piece of ribbon. The elephant is glued to another bamboo skewer and I poked it through a cupcake liner for some height.

For the inside of the cake, I wanted a rainbow cake, but ended up creating all sorts of weird colors! :) It was good, though. and I ended up using about 3 pounds of icing. (!)

I found some party hats at the dollar store and hot glued flowers to the tops.

It added a little individuality and fun to each one!

Here is the birthday girl with her favorite gift- her very own purse!

...and this is me saying how cute the little purse is. But I didn't put that weird sideways picture of me up for that. I wanted to show you the old suitcase behind me that has clown props in it. Almost everything in there was from the dollar store. Funny hats, clown noses, big glasses and shaped glasses, and more of Jojo's face on a stick. :)

Here is Jojo in her cozy coupe.. and it really was cozy!

Here's another great idea from Pinterest....

Rainbow fruit kabobs! They were a hit, and so easy to delegate. You know, someone shows up and says, "What can i do?" Well, I saved this for them. I had one done as an example, and just put them to work.

This isn't very circus-y, but today was Penny's first day of preschool! We used Telisa's printable and will from now on. My mom just found all of our first day of school pictures and it was a beast trying to figure out how old my sisters and I were in each one. This printable is perfect, and I highly recommend it! We just taped it behind her, because she was a little too excited to hold it still for the camera. :)

Enjoy!

-Sarah

Jojo's fun party inspired me to make a circus, carnival invitation that can be found HERE.

Playroom Makeover

We have been in our home for over a year and thanks to the help of 2 Grandpas, we finally "finished" our playroom for the boys in our unfinished basement.
Here is the horrendous BEFORE
(and my sweet husband trying to fix the pull string on the light that breaks every time my son thinks he is a monkey and hangs from it)
We had a new baby and I didn't even know where to begin organizing it into something fun.
Here it is a several months later. . .
getting a little better (and  my baby is getting bigger:))
And with the help of my genius, handy man Dad who put in 2 lights AND a light switch (no more pull string to hang from), some carpet remnants, an armoire makeover, baskets to organize toys, swings installed by my husbands genius handy man Dad, we have a fun, bright and functional playroom!
Just in time for another boy to arrive in 5 months!! Yikes!

A little mod podge and fun paper turned our old armoire into a great closet for the toys.
(Yep, that is the little baby who is now a big boy)
I think the aluminum insulation walls give it the perfect touch;)

Playroom Castle Mural

I have been visiting family for the past couple weeks (note, lack of posts) and thought I would share a mural I painted in my Mom's playroom for Christmas in 2009 and the adorable designing she has done since.
In the process . . .
The final product . . .

Oh, that same preggo belly of mine is back.
Here is the rest of the adorable playroom that my boys play in for hours and are going to sorely miss when we go back to Nebraska.
One of the first digital designs I made . . . good thing my Mom (a.k.a. Grandma Kat) loves anything her children make:)
I am even in love with the closet.
 Pottery Barn inspired Chalkboards.
Stay tuned to see the amazing remodels my Mom has done to her Victorian Bathroom and Living Room.
