Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle Party

To say my boys are obsessed with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is an understatement of ALL understatements. My Mother-in-Law gave us a box of my husbands old school TMNT collection last year and they have been hooked ever since. They love the new version as well but this party was more old school themed.
My boys helped with prepping along the way and it made it soooooo worth it because of how excited they were. I DO NOT do these big parties every year but wanted something special for my 3 year old who is used to his brothers always being in the spotlight.
The colors of the party were black, silver and bright green with pops of the turtle colors as well as graffiti writing like they are in the sewer liar. I drew all the turtles on the party prints in Photoshop to make them look like graffiti. . . not sure if it looks like that but that's what I was going for.
I hung the banner on a chain from Home Depot and used silver fasteners to secure the banner pieces.
I made the cupcake stand with circle styrofoam cake platers (I don't know what they are called) that I used a hot glue gun to make a sewer design with Tatum's name in the middle. After the glue dried, ThI wrapped aluminun foil around it to make it look like a sewer lid.

In the newer version, the turtles are always eating dirt with worms coming out . . . so, I filled some cans with chocolate pudding, crushed oreos and topped them with gummy worms. I have been saving up cans for this party for a few months :) I just used bright green duck tape to give them a pop of color.

I had hopes of these masked balloons floating on our front porch but the wind that day and the weight of the fabric made it impossible. So they are tied to a skewer and stuck in a planter.
I bought some cheap (1/4 of a yard) fabric from Walmart in the turtle colors and cut masks out for the kids.
While we were waiting for all the kids to arrive at the party they played with our turtle sewer lair and all the ninjas (no pic . . . sorry)
When all the kids arrived, I passed out their green slime so they could mutate into ninjas . . . aka Green jellos shots with gummy worms. Then they all picked a ninja mask, put it on and you would have thought they really did mutate! It's a good thing we know crazy at this house:)
Then the ninja training began . . .

The kids had to go through a yarn obstacle course to get to the basement where there were balloon ninjas waiting for them to defeat. I didn't really think about the fact that all the adults had to go through the obstacle too so by the time I got down there, the "bad ninja's" were definitely defeated.
I got a bunch of Raphael's sai's on clearance at Walmart but I am sure you can get them at any party supply store.
After the kids had some pizza (what would a turtle party be without pizza???) and filled up on "turtle power" it was time to ....
defeat the SHREDDER!!! I found these little takeout boxes at Walmart for the kids to put their piñata goodies in. I looked everywhere for a TMNT piñata but had no luck. So I printed out a picture of the Shredder and put it over a Power Ranger piñata. The kids used Donnie's staph that I made with a stick I bought I Home Depot, spray painted brown and wrapped masking tape around the middle. I didn't get any before or action shots of the piñata . . . it was more of an after thought so this pic from my phone is as good as it gets.

The kids also got to take home some green slime that I put in left over baby jars from my mini topiary project. These favor tags can be purchase in my shop >>> HERE
I hope you enjoyed taking a little look at Tatum's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle party! I am kicking myself for not getting a better picture of the ceiling I took forever to work on. . . it was covered in black crepe paper and green lanterns.
I pinned a few ideas I found on Pinterest like One Creative Housewife for the Ninja balloons (she used crepe paper which is a better idea than using fabric like I did) and Creative Kids Snacks for the ninja apples.

This was one of my favorite party packs to design because it was for this little guy.
You can purchase the 6" party circles that I used on the ends of the banner and for centerpieces >>> HERE
The party pack that includes bottle wrappers, cupcake toppers, party banner, 4" party circles can be purchased >>> HERE

We all took a nap after the party was over:)

Mini Glitter Banner for Christmas {free printable}

I shared this post  at Design Dazzle's 100 Ideas of Christmas Wonderful and want to share it with my readers. . .
I combined my favorite things for a holiday project . . glitter, christmas, printables and the help of my boys! The result, a mini glitter name banner for their Christmas tree!
All you need is:
Printout of banner
Scissors
Glue
Glitter
Twine or Ribbon
Mini Clothespins
To begin, let your kids pick which color they want and find the letters to spell their name.
(The possibilities are endless here, you can use any Christmas words or save these for later use as cake toppers, party decor or any holiday banner. . . your welcome:))
RED
NEON GREEN
YELLOW
TEAL
PURPLE
SEA GREEN
PINK
Click the buttons above to download the color(s) of your choice.
After you have downloaded and printed out your mini banner, simply cut out each banner,
carefully put glue on the letter - you could also use glitter paint,
sprinkle the glitter on the glue (my boys favorite part, we might have used a whole jar on one letter when my 2 year old wanted to help;)) and shake off the excess,
fold each banner in half,
glue over twine or ribbon,
and you have a mini banner ready to hang!
We even glittered our clothespins to hang them (yep, obsessed with glitter right now).
You can get all the background dot paper I used at Sprik Space courtesy of Amy!

I hope you have fun with your kids making these mini banners for your tree, home or holiday parties! Feel free to stop by SugarTot Designs for more free printables or my Shop for your holiday cards!
Merry Christmas!

Superhero Cupcake Toppers and Avengers Party Pack{at SugarTot Designs: the store}

In case you haven't noticed, we are all about Superheroes at our house. With three boys, everything has super powers. . . even my new Captain America phone cover from Wal-Mart. Yep, nerd alert! So, for Bodie's birthday we had a little superhero birthday bash (and by little, I mean in a hotel with just us little. . . it was wonderful:)) I made these cupcake toppers with my favorite Hall of Heroes font and Bodie was overjoyed when he saw all the Superhero logos.

Click HERE to purchase these Superhero toppers in my shop.

I have had a few requests to just have the Avenger's on the toppers, so I made an Avenger's birthday invitation and party pack!

Under the Sea Party!

Here it is, my friends. The sum of all of my labor and stress over the past few weeks.
Jojo and Kaitlyn's Under the Sea party!
My daughter (Jojo) and her best little friend (Kaitlyn) both turn two within a few weeks of one another, so we thought "wouldn't it be so much easier to just have one party instead of two?"
well.....I think we still ended up doing the amount of work and preparation for two parties. But it was fun doing it with a friend! Below, my friend and co party planner, Sarah and I. (I am on the right.)
From the left, we had crabby crackers, gummi octopus, fish candies, shark fruit snacks, goldfish cookies, mermaid tattoos, swedish fish, rainbow twizzlers, goldfish in a sand bucket (with the shovel to serve), and a shark watermelon bowl.
Here's a closeup of the shark watermelon. His eyes are blueberries. mmmm
Blue balloons with goldfish on the strings.
We had quite a few goldfish cut out, but the balloons fell with more than one fish! I found this idea on pinterest, and you can find it here at the Young moments blog.
 Blue Kool-Aid
The birthday girls and their little outfits! We found them matching shirts and I used fabric glue to adhere strings of sequins for the 2. i made hair bows with seashells on them, and little sashes with mermaid fabric! Being two year olds, almost everything came off right after pictures. ;)
Goody sand buckets! I printed out the names on regular printer paper, taped the paper to the inside of the buckets and used a paint pen to trace the names. They were filled with glow necklaces, sunglasses, goldfish snacks, and lots of CANDY!
The birthday girls, being mischevious. (And looking like Bono?)

I used a large cardboard box, flipped it inside out and painted a fish bowl on the side. With a little door on one end, it was the perfect photo op!
Ah, the cake. Promise it was yummier than it looks! The turrets were made with regular cake baked in cans. The front piece of the castle was made using a sandcastle mold- we used the no bake cheesecake mix, packed in the graham cracker crust first and then poured in the cheesecake. This is the only one that survived, besides the little top piece. (Shoot. had to eat the rest...)
The base is a layer of pound cake. YUM.
We squished up some blue jello and made a moat around the castle, complete with octopuses and sharks for protection. (naturally.)
Here's a behind-the-scenes look at the making of the cake. messy!
The backdrop for the main table was a blue tablecloth with crepe paper hanging over it for a water effect. Both my co-party planner and husband work in the medical field and have lots of access to blue surgical drapes. Perfect! Each table was covered with one, and it made for awesome clean up!
The food table- we had sandwiches and mac and cheese.
Jellyfish (paper bowls and ribbon), and my cute sailor of a husband. ;)

Okay, and check out the adorable invites that we sent out!
You can purchase them here at Telisa's etsy shop!
