Furniture Friday!
Ta DAAAA! Here it is.
The friday furniture post with the coffee table- finished! I've been running around crazy working on my daughter's "under the sea" birthday party, but did manage to get this done.
Here's a little sneak peek of the party...
Peek! Sorry, that's all you're getting! ;)
So, below, you'll see the before picture of the coffee table that I pulled from someone's trash.
(I am not ashamed to recycle furniture.)
I loved the criss-cross pattern on either side, so I sanded down until I got to bare wood.
It. took. FOREVER. I had my hand sander, and it still took forever.
I taped off the criss cross sections on either side and lightly sanded and primed the rest.
Next, I painted two coats of a very light blue,
then got out a tiny paintbrush and painted little whimsical designs onto the bare wood.
Gotta love those legs!
Here it is in my living room... I think I like that leg style- can you tell by our end table? ;)
Have a colorful week!

I am loving all the recipes I find on Pinterest!! Here are my fave this month:
This was a big hit with the company we had and it was so easy to make. . . it also makes A LOT so it is the perfect recipe for a crowd. Note: it seems like there is too much liquid but once you shred the chicken it absorbs it all.
We eat mexican at least once a week around here so I will definitely be making this again soon!
This recipe reminds me of my fave place to eat lunch in college . . Teriyaki Stix! YUMMO!
Such a simple concept and so good. My boys LOVED them, especially served with a side of Ranch dressing . . . yep, we are health nuts around here;)
For recipes on the side:
I didn't have all the ingredients for this baby and it turned out good so I am sure with ALL the ingredients it is FANTASTIC and quick to make! Love that.
These are now a new staple at our house. OH MY, they are fabulous!!!! I love sweet potatoes and get tired of just baking them and HATE cutting them into strips for fries so this is my new favorite side dish!
And for dessert:
Cream Cheese Lemon Bars.
I don't know the source of these . . . the recipe was on the pin, if they are yours let me know so I can give you the credit you deserve because they are delicious!
Samoa Bundt cake by Besty Life . . . need I say more??? It was AMAZING!
Thank you to all you talented cooks out there who help us clueless people in the kitchen! Please visit the original source of these recipes if you want to pin them! I will be back with more tried and true recipes found via Pinterest!

Cars 2 Party
Best part about having a shop . . . getting to know people and getting AMAZING pictures of their parties (and when they are willing to let me share it:))
This certain lovely customer asked me to make her some Cars 2 party printables. I didn't have anything in my shop for that so I love it when I am asked to make new things. . . hint, hint or else I probably wouldn't get around to do it.
EVERYTHING but the cake was made by her! I am still blown away by all the work and creativity put into this party and how cute it turned out!
Cute, amazing, adorable cake by Brookie's Cookies in Katy, Texas (anybody lucky enough to live there??)
Handmade race cars out of card board boxes, tire toss, pinata and much more! That is one lucky 4 year old! Thank you Jill for letting me feature your party!
To buy your Cars 2 party kit that includes cupcake toppers, favor tags, happy birthday banner and food labels visit my shop HERE
Cars 2 invitations and thank you cards are also available HERE

Happy Friday! I'm still working on the coffee table.. Possibly going to paint a design on the bare wood before I seal it. The rest was primed and painted a very pale blue. Any ideas for the design??
I found this awesome scribble/swirly line on a blog a few years ago and fell in love.
(is this yours? let me know!)
So I painted it onto this drop leaf table that I found.. after I painted it red. This table was awesome as a little bar table with both sides down, and I think the girl that bought it was going to use it as a sofa table.
Have a great week!

Poem by my Granpda Harold {free printable}
These last few months have brought life, death and serious illnesses in my family. It has reminded me of how fragile life is and how much it is to be ENJOYED and not just endured. It is easy (for me) to get carried away on focusing on the next project when the next "project" should be spending time with my boys.
With the passing of my Grandpa, I made a print of a poem that he always told us when we visited him. He had the funniest, quirkiest and original "phraseology" that I will never forget! I hope my cousins, siblings and anyone else who needs a good laugh enjoys this poem. I am pretty sure he adapted it from an original version, but since this came from my Grandpa, it is my favorite!
The print is an 8x10.
I know my Grandpa and Grandma Stout are dancing together again!

Fave Furniture Fridays #4
Hello everyone.. and hello FRIDAY! so glad it's almost the weekend. My husband comes home from work and we get to see him for more than 2 hours at a time at night.
(the resident's life...ugh.)
Here are a few projects that I've been working on this week, along with painting my friend's dining room chairs, making a Harriet Tubman costume and preparing for a birthday party. :)
This is a dumpster dive treasure that I brought home on top of my car at night. The table is super heavy and sturdy.. i love the old pieces that don't have an inch of laminate on them. I wanted to do something different besides just painting it white, so if you look closely on top, you can see a parquet pattern in the wood.
I sanded (and sanded and sanded and sanded) and finally got all of the stain off on the top left and right. my plan is to put a coat of polyurethane over just those sections, tape them off and paint the rest of the coffee table a solid color. Tune in next week to see it finished! Sorry about the horrible picture, but at least you can see where the sanding took place. :)
The picture below is a bed that I found (and the before of the chair from last week's post). It's beautiful just like it is, but (of course) I decided to spruce it up a bit.
Ta da! After. It's in the dining room, still. I need more space!!
See anything great this week? We'd love to hear about it! Any suggestions on the coffee table makeover? Have a great week and a Hoppy Easter!

April Visiting Teaching Message {Free Printable}
I just love this month's checklist of how we can LOVE, WATCH OVER and STRENGTHEN the sisters we visit teach. While I try to listen to the needs of my sisters, I find myself worrying about my boys not destroying anything, yelling or having a breakdown (which is why I REALLY need to go when their dad is home to watch them). However, I KNOW if we focus on the goals listed below, we will be successful in our efforts to bless the lives of the sisters we visit teach and "our sisters can say: (1) my visiting teacher helps me grow spiritually; (2) I know my visiting teacher cares deeply about me and my family; and (3) if I have problems, I know my visiting teacher will take action without waiting to be asked.
There are two 4x6 messages per page. Click the download button above and visit your sisters!
