DIY Mug Jewelry Holders. . . Keep an eye out

One of the many little projects that has been in the back of my head this month has been this one... I go to the thrift store at least once a week, and am always searching for mug racks! They're cheap, hard to find, and always ugly. ;)

I finally collected 4 of them!
..and by the time painting actually began, I had found another!
I spray painted them all glossy black,
dumped out a whole drawer of jewelry,
and now I can finally see what I have!
(I actually sent some of these to my mom for Christmas, too.)
It's crazy what a little searching can turn up-
I always felt like I hit the jackpot when I left with an ugly mug rack!

Gratitude Challenge {Free Printable}

I have been overloading you all with free printables and today I have yet another one. I know Thanksgiving is over but in the December Ensign, the First Presidency message is "The Choice to be Grateful." In the youth section, it has the idea of not just talking about our blessings but writing them down. Starting with 100 things. . . it is pretty easy when broken down into 10 categories:
Thank you to John Hilton and Anthony Sweat for coming up with these so I could make some printables:)
1. 10 physical abilities you are grateful for
2. 10 material possessions you are grateful for
3. 10 living people you are grateful for
4. 10 deceased people you are grateful for
5. 10 things about nature you are grateful for
6. 10 things about today you are grateful for
7. 10 places on earth you are grateful for
8. 10 modern inventions you are grateful for
9. 10 foods you are grateful for
10. 10 things about the gospel you are grateful for

I love this idea and plan on using it for Family Home Evening or anytime during the Christmas Season. By so doing, we can "receive the gift of a more grateful heart" as stated by President Henry B. Erying. That is a wonderful gift to have!!

Noel Christmas Banner - {Free Printable}

I posted this Noel Christmas banner {I Heart Naptime} for Crazy Christmas Crafters and now want to share it with my readers in case you missed it!
Enjoy!
Hello again I Heart Naptimers! Soooo happy to be making things for the Christmas season! I LOVE this time of year and wish it could last just a little longer. This month's printable is a little different than one that you just print and frame so I hope you enjoy this printable NOEL Christmas banner (don't let the number of steps scare you, it really is easy to make).

To make your own banner:

Download all the papers HERE, print (I recommend e-mailing papers to OfficeMax, Staples, etc. to save on ink and printing on card stock) and cut them out.
The main banner piece was used from Altered Artifacts fabulous free vintage Christmas music papers.
For the pinwheel:
Fold the strips like an accordion
Staple (or glue or tape) the edges together to form a circle, with the color on the outside.
Push the middle of the paper down to make your pinwheel.
Glue one of your circle letters in the middle and put something on there while it dries so it doesn't pop back up (I used a stapler).
The glitter is optional but I love the extra sparkle it adds. If you want it, now is a good time to put it around the edges of your pinwheel.
After all your pinwheels are made, punch a hole in the upper corners of your main banner pieces.
Glue your pinwheels onto the banner.
I just found some scrap fabric I had and cut them into 1 inch by 12 inch strips to tie my banner together.
You can get creative here. . . ribbon, burlap string and weave it through as opposed to tying each piece together.
You are done! You have yourself a nice and free NOEL Christmas banner.

Ribbon Turkey Tutorial

Just in time for Thanksgiving! I've seen this turkey everywhere, but this one is no-sew!
First, I made a template of the turkey body out of paper.
And then traced it onto brown foam, you can use felt, but I wanted something a little more firm.
Add eyes, a beak and a curled ribbon "gobbler".
(big discussion in our house about what that thing is really called!)
Ribbons! The large "feathers" are about 5 inches long, folded in half.
Hot glue them all together.
I added a few tack stitches to hold it onto the onesie.
Cute little gobblers! This project just took a few minutes- perfect for naptime!
Happy Thanksgiving!
