DIY Silhouettes and a Quick Clock Makeover!

What a busy month it's been! But, of course, I've found time to squeeze in a few projects. ;)
Here's a great vintage clock that I found at a thrift store (for six bucks!)
...and it works. If it didn't, I would have painted chalkboard paint on the face and drawn in a clock.

Here's a great way to make your own silhouettes.
I made mine in about 10 minutes, and here's how!
First, I dug around and found pictures of my girls where they are looking to the side.
Next, I printed out their pictures on regular white letter paper.
(make sure you zoom the picture in so that they fill up most of the page)
Cut out the silhouette, it should look like this...
Now flip them over. Next, I set them onto black construction paper and traced them with a pencil.
You can throw away the white paper and cut out the black silhouettes.

Ta da! Here they are... and do you see the clock? Gotta love that spray paint!

Pirate Birthday Party

One of my faaaaavorite things about designing and having an etsy shop is meeting new people. I love the conversations we have and making their designs custom for them!
I have recently been working with sweet Andi who has been a delight to work with and not only put on an amazing pirate birthday party for her son but put on a "Love Boat" party the week after that for her friends!
(can't wait to see pics of that. wink, wink)

Some of the pirate food labels read:
Peg Legs - Pretzel rods
Gold Pops - Red velvet cupcake pops dipped in sprinkles
X Marks the Spot - Reese's Peanut Butter Cups with a fondant x on them
Treasure Box Sweets - Various Treats

I love how she turned the cupcake toppers into favor tags to put on little treasure boxes.
Everything she did is just amazing, Down to the table cloth with ric rac on the bottom! Love it.
Pirate party kit can be found here and the invite here!

Halloween Pumpkin Hats {Free Printable}

I have seen these fun hats in so many stores that are more than I am willing to pay for paper and some embellishments on top of a pumpkin that I can get for 98 cents at Walmart.
Project!
All you need to is:
print outs of the pumpkin hat templates
another thank you to aimee from sprik space for the pattern pieces
scissors
tacky glue and/or tape
some fun yarn
pumpkins
To download, click on pictures and they will open in new window, right click and save to your computer.

another thank you to aimee from sprik space for the pattern pieces used for the backgrounds.

Cut out the hat, strip of paper for the fan and the circle.
Start folding the strip of paper back and forth.
Glue (or staple) the ends together so it forms a circle.

Lay the zig zag circle on the table and push flat
Glue the circle on top and hold it down for a few seconds.
To make the hat, roll the edges to form a cone and tape, staple or glue one side on top of the other.

Glue your yarn around the bottom edge of the hat - I went around twice to make the trim thicker.
Glue your paper fan on the hat.
To make the pom pom for the top:
Wrap the yarn around 2 fingers (3 if you want it thicker) about 20 times.
Gently pull off your fingers and place in the middle of a strip of yarn.
Tie a knot around the middle of the bundle with the strip of yarn.
Cut the loops on either end and fluff to make a pom pom.
Glue your pom pom on top of your hat and put on your pumpkin!

I have had yellow fever lately, probably due to this beauty.
So the next culprit to yellow spray paint was our quilting rack! My mother-in-law makes AMAZING quilts (see monster quilt here) and we have some for every season and holiday so naturally they need to be on display! Can't wait to get my Halloween quilts out!
Here is the plain BEFORE:
And the fun, happy AFTER:

Next up for yellow paint? Our kitchen chairs.
