Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle Party

To say my boys are obsessed with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is an understatement of ALL understatements. My Mother-in-Law gave us a box of my husbands old school TMNT collection last year and they have been hooked ever since. They love the new version as well but this party was more old school themed.
My boys helped with prepping along the way and it made it soooooo worth it because of how excited they were. I DO NOT do these big parties every year but wanted something special for my 3 year old who is used to his brothers always being in the spotlight.
The colors of the party were black, silver and bright green with pops of the turtle colors as well as graffiti writing like they are in the sewer liar. I drew all the turtles on the party prints in Photoshop to make them look like graffiti. . . not sure if it looks like that but that's what I was going for.
I hung the banner on a chain from Home Depot and used silver fasteners to secure the banner pieces.
I made the cupcake stand with circle styrofoam cake platers (I don't know what they are called) that I used a hot glue gun to make a sewer design with Tatum's name in the middle. After the glue dried, ThI wrapped aluminun foil around it to make it look like a sewer lid.

In the newer version, the turtles are always eating dirt with worms coming out . . . so, I filled some cans with chocolate pudding, crushed oreos and topped them with gummy worms. I have been saving up cans for this party for a few months :) I just used bright green duck tape to give them a pop of color.

I had hopes of these masked balloons floating on our front porch but the wind that day and the weight of the fabric made it impossible. So they are tied to a skewer and stuck in a planter.
I bought some cheap (1/4 of a yard) fabric from Walmart in the turtle colors and cut masks out for the kids.
While we were waiting for all the kids to arrive at the party they played with our turtle sewer lair and all the ninjas (no pic . . . sorry)
When all the kids arrived, I passed out their green slime so they could mutate into ninjas . . . aka Green jellos shots with gummy worms. Then they all picked a ninja mask, put it on and you would have thought they really did mutate! It's a good thing we know crazy at this house:)
Then the ninja training began . . .

The kids had to go through a yarn obstacle course to get to the basement where there were balloon ninjas waiting for them to defeat. I didn't really think about the fact that all the adults had to go through the obstacle too so by the time I got down there, the "bad ninja's" were definitely defeated.
I got a bunch of Raphael's sai's on clearance at Walmart but I am sure you can get them at any party supply store.
After the kids had some pizza (what would a turtle party be without pizza???) and filled up on "turtle power" it was time to ....
defeat the SHREDDER!!! I found these little takeout boxes at Walmart for the kids to put their piñata goodies in. I looked everywhere for a TMNT piñata but had no luck. So I printed out a picture of the Shredder and put it over a Power Ranger piñata. The kids used Donnie's staph that I made with a stick I bought I Home Depot, spray painted brown and wrapped masking tape around the middle. I didn't get any before or action shots of the piñata . . . it was more of an after thought so this pic from my phone is as good as it gets.

The kids also got to take home some green slime that I put in left over baby jars from my mini topiary project. These favor tags can be purchase in my shop >>> HERE
I hope you enjoyed taking a little look at Tatum's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle party! I am kicking myself for not getting a better picture of the ceiling I took forever to work on. . . it was covered in black crepe paper and green lanterns.
I pinned a few ideas I found on Pinterest like One Creative Housewife for the Ninja balloons (she used crepe paper which is a better idea than using fabric like I did) and Creative Kids Snacks for the ninja apples.

This was one of my favorite party packs to design because it was for this little guy.
You can purchase the 6" party circles that I used on the ends of the banner and for centerpieces >>> HERE
The party pack that includes bottle wrappers, cupcake toppers, party banner, 4" party circles can be purchased >>> HERE

We all took a nap after the party was over:)

Superhero Room / / Updated!!

It's been over a year since I posted Bodie and Tatum's Superhero room and how my it usually goes with me, I have been wanting. . . and by wanting I mean, keep me up in the night - can't focus on anything - wanting to change "a few" things.
The first thing that HAD to be changed and that took the longest . . . 6 months to be exact . . . was the blue bunk bed. That is six months of the boys sleeping on the floor :/ The old school BLUE had to go though and the boys thought it was fun to sleep on the floor . . . they were that much closer to their toys. Aaaand instead of taking the easy way out which would have been to spray paint it . . . I stripped it. I knew my boys would scratch the bed up and spray paint wouldn't hold. I didn't want any blue creeping through soooo off it came.
// BEFORE //
// AFTER //
Ahhh, so refreshing.
I must be crazy because as soon as I got rid of the blue bed, I get a blue night stand. Crazy? I don't know, I am pretty much in love with that little stand and was just waiting for it to go on sale at Target.
Why is there a green and gold necklace in my boys room you ask? Well, I told my boys it was kryptonite and they think it is the coolest thing ever.
Another thing I was not loving was the Superhero Print I made for their room. I update that a bit and put it in a white frame instead of black.
I found the fun telephone booth at Hobby Lobby and filled it with the "Super Power Game" I made for Design Dazzle's Summer Boredom Buster Series.
My wonderfully talented mother-in-law made the Superhero capes . . . sad to say, one of them is not mine and now my sister knows where her sons Superman cape went;)
When my Mom comes to visit, we always go to the antique stores around town. We found these Superhero signs on our last outing.
The red curtains were also swapped out for these green and white striped beauties. They make the room feel so much more open, bright and happy:)
Oh, hi little Lincoln. . . this future hero kept sneaking into the picture. He thinks he is pretty awesome now that he can almost climb the ladder . . . I am in trouble. I am not ready for THREE superheroes in this room.

The comic style pics of my boys and their Superhero bins are the only thing that I didn't change. If you missed the tutorial for the bins, you can find that HERE.
My husband spent a month in Moscow on a rotation and brought back Batman Matryoshka dolls for the boys. Robin, Ice Man, the Penguin and the Joker are inside. Love them!
I am now making a vow to not change ANYTHING in this room until residency is over . . . 2 and a half more years. I might need to go to a support group to make it that long;)

MyColor Project - Transforming Furniture

Hi everyone!
I wanted to share a new post up on the MyColor Project Blog- and a few pieces of furniture that paint has once again transformed. I picked up a desk at the thrift store, and a little stepstool at an estate sale. The final "after" gives me warm fuzzies... go check it out here! Scroll down a little bit to the yucky old red desk. (you won't miss it!)
